River Park Inn is a 5 guest room bed and breakfast in the business district of Green Cove Springs across from Spring Park and on the South side of City Hall.  What, you may ask, is a bed and breakfast… Well it is a place of over night lodging that includes breakfast in the room rate and often has free refreshments and other amenities. Unlike hotel rooms that are pretty much all the same, themed rooms at the inn are uniquely decorated with antiques and at breakfast in the morning there is generally lively conversation and a delicious breakfast served at a common dining table.  As resident innkeepers, the owners live on the property. In Europe and other countries small family inns are quite common but, due to the regulations in the United States, a hotel and restaurant license are required and publicly advertised inns are held to a higher standard.

What… I did not know there was a place like this to stay in Green Cove Springs, you say.  Well, many people do not know about us because we keep a low profile and have no large sign on the highway but the inn was opened in July 1997. We actually are approaching the celebration of our twentieth anniversary in business.

It is interesting that in the late 1800’s the building served a similar capacity in that it housed “the more retiring guests” of the Clarendon Hotel that was then located where the City Hall is today.  In those days people came to Green Cove Springs for “The Cure” offered from partaking of the mineral water from the spring that Dr. Applegate, the proprietor, would prescribe and dispense. So this is the last vestige of that so called “Hotel Era” in Green Cove Springs AKA the “Saratoga of the South” and watering hole of the rich and famous.

While we do not offer “The Cure” we do hope our guests find peace and rest in this wonderful quiet town away from the pressures of larger “destination” get a ways. Over the years we have encountered wonderful guests from many countries and received various distinctions. In 2006 the inn was voted a Unique Destination by Florida Secrets.  In 2015 it was recognized by Trip Advisor and Booking.com for its excellent guest reviews…

In addition to peace and rest guests discover that wonderful memories are created here and many guests return year after year.
